Melodic Simon
Purpose: Memory practice with a real tune phrase. The game shows a growing prefix of notes;
you play it back on your verified digital practice chanter. Scoring uses pitch
changes — silence between notes is not required (continuous-sounding digitals are
fine). Acoustic + room mic is not supported for pitch games.
Before you play
-
Digital signal ready (
why digital).
-
Profile saved in Manage Chanters.
-
Optional check in Chanter Test.
Cold start without a practice-ready profile is locked on purpose. Overview:
Calibrate → test → play.
Steps
-
Open Melodic Simon (or pick it from
Games).
- Choose Slow / Medium / Fast. Slow is the default if the flash feels rushed.
-
Optionally turn on Play tones during prep to hear each note while it
flashes (headphones help if speakers can reach your mic).
- Watch the sequence, then play the same notes back. Each round adds one note.
- Use Stop anytime to return to the ready screen.
How scoring works
-
Only stable pitch changes count. Holding a correct note does not skip
ahead.
-
Consecutive same pitches in the tune are collapsed so each step is a note change (easier
for continuous chanters).
- Wrong change or taking too long on a step costs a life (3 lives per run).
Tips
- Start on Slow until the phrase feels familiar, then try Medium.
- The large letter above the strip is the note to play next during your turn.
- If your chanter can pause or mute, you may re-articulate between notes — optional.
- Keep the same verified profile selected across sessions.
Troubleshooting
-
Notes not detected: mic permissions, correct USB/line-in device, then
Chanter Test.
-
Prep tones confuse scoring: turn tones off, or use headphones so the mic doesn’t hear
the speakers.
- Flash too fast: switch Speed to Slow on the ready screen.
