Calibrate → test → play

Note Blaster and Note Battle do not guess a “generic” bagpipe scale. They match pitch against your saved chanter frequencies. Skip setup and cold entry into Blaster usually feels broken — wrong notes, missed hits, frustration. Use this loop whenever you change gear, create a profile, or save new frequencies.

Best with an electronic practice chanter on line-in / USB. Analog works after you calibrate a custom profile; avoid relying on a laptop room mic.

1. Manage Chanters (calibrate)

Open Manage Chanters. This is the setup desk for your active chanter profile.

Also confirm the microphone / input device is your chanter’s line-in or interface — not the laptop’s built-in mic. Details: Manage Chanters FAQ.

2. Chanter Test (verify)

Open Chanter Test. Confirm you are testing the right chanter profile and the right microphone, start listening, and play a few notes. The app should light the expected notes.

After you save or change a calibration, verify once before games. Blaster and Battle stay locked until that confirmation — on purpose, so practice scores mean something.

How-to: Chanter Test FAQ.

3. Play (daily practice)

Start Note Blaster or Note Battle with the verified profile selected. That is the daily practice surface — short sessions, lots of reps, accuracy before speed.

More on using the game well: Note Blaster practice.

When to re-run the loop

You do not need to recalibrate every session if nothing changed — just pick the same profile and play.
