Bagpipe practice games

Quick Answer

BagpipeBlasphemy offers four pitch games for a calibrated digital or electronic practice chanter: Note Blaster (note recognition), Note Battle (scroll-hit timing on tunes), Melodic Simon (phrase memory), and Phrase Echo (call-and-response ear training). They are practice tools between lessons, not a curriculum.

Before you play

Note Blaster

Fast note recognition drills. Prompted notes, short rounds, accuracy first. Best for building speed matching pitch to the chanter scale you calibrated.

Note Battle

Scroll-hit stave practice. Notes move across a staff; hit the right pitch in the green zone. Melody and grace notes from real tunes. Rhythm and timing matter.

Melodic Simon

Phrase memory. Watch a growing prefix of notes from a Highland tune, then play it back on your chanter. Scoring uses pitch changes, so continuous-sounding electronic chanters work well.

Phrase Echo

Ear training. The computer plays a short phrase; you echo it back without note-name spoilers. Note names appear only if you miss. Good call-and-response practice between lessons.
